great book for all roswell fans
i thought i was pretty up to date on roswell until i bought this
book. this book will have you scratching your head pondering if
you are truly a roswell fan or just pretending. i did about average and i love the show. take the quiz if you dare to find
out what your roswell iq is.

And you thought you knew a lot about Roswell...
I thought I knew everything about Roswell--before I picked up this book! I was shocked at how much I didn't know. It's jam-packed with every little factoid possible.

UFO Research and Investigation: How much do you really know about the crash of '47? This section starts off with you as an FBI agent, being tested on how much you know about the crash, and the suspects living in Roswell. Better study hard, or you'll end up with a desk job!

The Real Investigation: More questions about the different characters. Are you as informed as Nasedo, or are you as in the dark as Kyle?

Friends, Lovers, and Enemies: Do you know what the terms Candygirl, Dreamgirl, and Stargazer refer to? If not, you'll be in trouble in this section!

Do You Remember When?: How good are you with dates? This section covers dates ranging from the UFO crash in 1947 to Liz's first diary entry.

Episode Highlights: If you missed any episodes from season 1, this chapter could be tough. It asks questions about each season 1 episode--fill in the blank!

Grand Total: This is the section where all your totals are calculated! Are you a True Believer, or just a Tourist? I didn't do very well the first time I took the quiz, but I've done better each time I've taken it. I'm definitely a True Believer! This book is a must-have for any Roswell obsessive! As an added bonus, there are also color photos of each main member of the season one cast.

See how well you know ROSWELL
I love this book it really let me see how much I actually knew about ROSWELL and I knew alot more than I thought I did Great for any Roswell Lover like myself to see if your obssessed or just a fan. I found out that I am DEFINETLY OBSSESSED....

The World of the French Revolution
Published in Paperback by Harpercollins College Div (June, 1972)
Author: Robert Roswell Palmer
Average review score:

Excellent Account of how the French Revolution impacted Euro
R.R. Palmer's "World of the French Revolution" is an excellent account of how the French Revolution impacted Europe. Palmer shows how the ideals of liberty and equality swept into other European land with the help of French armies. Palmer also dispels many of the myths of the revolutionaries such as them being members of the Illuminati, or other secret societies. Instead he shows how most of the revolutionaries were more worried about the establishment and securing republicanism in France.

Palmer dives into the "revolutions" in the "sister republics" of Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Poland, Great Britian, and the United States. In Europe the Revolution collapsed the old order tearing down feudalism. Guilds, corporations, taxes, tithes, tariffs, and aristocracy were swept away. He also relates how the Revolution changed European society forever. His chapter on the US was very interesting. He shows how the "democrats" like Jefferson, Madison, and other republicans were avid supporters of the Revolution believing that republicanism everywhere depended on it's sucess. Overall an excellent study.

An indepth and intellectual look at the Revolution
R.R. Palmer's The World of the French Revolution explores and extensively describes the origins and outcomes of the Revolution. What sets this often overlooked book apart from all other texts on the French Revolution, is its insiteful and intellectual commentary that is intertwined with extensive facts. The book is presented in an easily readable fashion that is not boaring(as are many other acclaimed Revolution texts). It is ideal for any upper level history student and teachers alike because the content is tremendously through.

The Roswell Files

Perfect for School Reports
I found the book extremely useful for the report I had to write on the Roswell "Conspiracy". Backing up statements and theories with clear facts, it makes speculations sound plausible to even some of the most disbelieving readers. Having had no previous knowledge on the Roswell matter, the book filled me in on the details and then some. I got an A on the report and I give the book 5 stars! :)

The Roswell Report: Fact Vs. Fiction in the New Mexico Desert

No aliens..what a shame!
The Roswell Report produced by the headquarters of the united states airforce, once and for all debunks all the crazy and wacked theories flying around (yepp, flying...stelthing...you name it they are out there) that there was an alien spacship that crashed at the famous location, i.e., Roswell. There are plenty of documents here that not only debunk these wild theories, they substanitiate the governments claim of testing military baloons. Highly Recommended.

every girls must have!!
This book continues the Roswell saga where the other one finished off.with Micheal held captive by Valenti (who gets hot under the collar by the end-literally)and meets 3 new playmates there's a new girl in town in the form of traitor Cameron who Mikey is smitten with and cute (or is he,Max?) innocent Alien Adam who loves Daddy Valenti until he finds out what he is and then escapes the compound and falls for our resident princess Liz much to Maxs dismay, the scene in the car where Max obsesses about whether or not Adam is cute is so funny i went into hysterics. The endeing is funfilled with the gang springing Mikey from the compound and finding out a little something about Adam in the process, all is revealed in the next installment. chock full of shocks suprises and sweetness esp. Max and Liz a must read for everyone. i personally could not put it down and have banned my sisters grubby mitts from EVER reading it.

RIVETING!
Everything is this book was great! The romance just fit so perfectly just like a puzzle. It was awesome. The plot was also great in every way. The story between Max and Liz was phenomonel. It was a one of the best in the series.

Not just for Sci-Fi Fans
This is a great book it not only contains Sci-fi but also romance action and suspense. I just got the next book the Stoaway which is sure to be a great one too! I recomend this book to everybody!

The Vanished: Review
This book was good and hard to put down like the rest of the Roswell books, but I was a little disappointed. They still couldn't get Alex back yet. And the whole Cameron,Micheal,Isabel,Maria thing was making my head hurt. That's why I only give this book 4 stars.

a must read
the gang have stranded alex on max, isabel, and michel's home planet. dupris is nowhere to be found. my what is the crew going to do. max tries to get help from the consciousness but most of them are afraid of alex and the other half want to kill him. they are really of no help. the gang comes together beautifully to try and get him back. this one is suspenseful and thrilling. i think the only one that i read that is better would probaly be number 2 or 9. this is a definite must read.

An excellent book, and very surprising
The Vanished is the 7th Roswell high book, and you may thinkthat Melinda Metz, has run out of ideas, however, this book provesthat she is an excellent writer. In the story, Alex, is trapped on the aliens' (Max, Isabel, Micheal,Adam)home planet. Max is spending a lot of time and effort to save him. They are also trying to find the space ship, that was left in the warehouse. This book was so suspenseful and exciting that it took about an hour to read. I recommend it for true Roswell fans, and I think you will find it another excellent creation by Melinda Metz.

The Outsider (Roswell High , No 1)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (September, 1998)
Author: Melinda Metz
Average review score:

Feeling Alien (Literally) in High School
Who hasn't ever felt like an alien in high school? Well, for Max, Michael and Isabel, they not only feel like aliens, they know that they are aliens. The Outsider is the beginning of the ten book Roswell High series by Melinda Metz that brings the reader into a world where an alien could be the boy you never noticed from third grade. The main characters include Max, Michael and Isabel who are orphaned aliens who do not remember their home planet or why they are on Earth. Liz finds out the trio's secret when she gets shot and Max, who has always loved Liz from afar, heals her with his powers. Liz's best friends Maria and Alex soon learn about the aliens and together, the six of them are bonded for life. Metz does a wonderful job blending science fiction with action, heartfelt emotion and modern wit. Each book of the series has its own plot with continuity and closure but enough of a cliffhanger to lead the reader into the next story. In the end, Metz's point comes across clear - that no matter what the differences (even alien ones) between friends, all that matters is friendship and teamwork, and anything can happen!

The Best Book Series Ever Created!
I really enjoyed this book. Once I picked it up and started to read, I couldn't put it down. I also love the TV show. When the show first came on, I didn't really watch it because I thought it wouldn't be that great. But once I read this first book in the series, I just had to watch the show and when I did, I was hooked. I am now hooked on both the TV show and books. I think all of them are great. I've read the first book and I'm now reading the second one. I like the romance between Liz and Max and how they are kind of like a modern-day version of Romeo and Juliet. (Max would be Romeo and Liz would be Juliet). Max Evans, Isabel Evans, and Michael Guerin are teenage aliens with special powers from another world. Liz Ortecho, Maria DeLuca, and Alex Manes are their friends who find out about their secret. All Max, Isabel, and Michael want is to find their way home and to find out who their parents were. Liz, Maria, and Alex try to help them and are sworn to keep it a secret, especially from Sherrif Valenti, who is working on a Roswell alien-catching project. The six of them become connected to each other and all become friends. I think this book series is really good and I reallyr recommend it to anyone! I also really recommend the show, too. P.S., the guy who plays Max on the TV show is really hot!

Roswell a great book for Teens
This book is about Isabel, Max, and Michael being a little diffrent from ordinary teenagers at their highschool. Little did Maria and Liz know that they are about to be in to this big secret. That Max, Isabel, and Michael had survived the Roswell crash in 1959. The were incubated in a a hard substance and were put up for adoption at a young age. Now still living in Rosewell, New Mexico they want to learn more about their past lives and meet their real parents. Until Sheriff Valenti comes to town and has a wierd feeling about these three teenagers. How will Maria and Liz handle this news when they find out this big secret? How will they react? Read the book and you will find out! I think that this book is a most read for all people that enjoy the TV show on Wednesday nights. If you read the books you will have a better understanding of the plot of the show. If you love Science Fiction books this is also a most read. But I think that for now I'll stick with the TV show.

Twelve Who Ruled
Published in Paperback by Princeton Univ Pr (01 September, 1970)
Author: Robert Roswell Palmer
Average review score:

The best introduction to the French Revolution
This is a small gem of a book and introduces both the characters and the influences of the period of the terror in the French Revolution. Like all good narrative histories, it maintains a balance between the detail and the sweep of history. Any book that is fresh and alive after forty years, begins to deserve the title of classic. Unfortunately history does not stand still and many of Palmer's conclusions need to be tested. It needs to be read alongside Soboul and Schama to gain an understanding of the complexity of this period. Even so, a great work that will repay careful reading.

From this starting point, you can delve back into the influences that brought this group to power and forward to the Napoleonic period.

An amazing book!
This may have been the best book that I have ever read. Palmer does a great job of portraying the characters, the times, and the decisions they made. The last chapter is absolutely riveting. One of if not the best book I've ever read!

Insightful Book about a Little Understood Time
In my college Western Civilization course years ago, we read a speech Robespierre gave during a festival created by the revolutionary government. After discussing this speech for a while, we passed on to Napoleon, but before we did, one student asked the professor for recommendations for further reading on the Reign of Terror. He mentioned Twelve Who Ruled. I didn't run out and buy the book, but I did keep in the back of my mind, and whenever I browsed the history shelves of a bookstore or library, I kept an eye out for it. Several years later, I ran across the book and, after reading it, I am quite glad that I did.

The Reign of Terror is, of course, a fascinating period of history that usually gets short shrift in high school or college classes. One hears of guillotines and revolutionaries run wild, killing each other for not being radical enough. This book fleshes out the story and dispels some myths about it.

Robespierre was a member of the Committee on Public Safety, a legislative committee that was part of the National Assembly, France's short-lived revolutionary parliament set up in the 1790s. The Committee consisted of twelve people, hence the title of the book: "The Twelve Who Ruled."

Palmer describes how the Committee functions and gives a very plausible explanation for the reasons behind Robespierre's and his fellow committee members' actions. Given the nature of the period, it is no surprise that the book is not boring. But Palmer did not sacrifice academic rigor for readability.

I recommend this book for anyone interested in history or political science.
